Reliability Ride 2023

Entries open now.

WHAT
A reliability ride is a test of a cyclist and their bike coming out of the winter period. It’s a test of fitness and form coming into the Spring. Reliability rides are for all abilities, from social spinners to elite athletes. It offers great motivation to push yourself – when a lie in followed by an hour on the turbo may seem much more inviting. This takes place on open roads under regular traffic conditions so – for everyone’s safety – this is not a race!

Both take in a mix of uphill and flat riding: descents are on reasonable or good roads. At this time of year many of the lanes are in poor condition; potholes, road debris, rotting leaves and standing water. Mudguards and 25mm tyres are recommended rather than racing bikes with skinny tyres, but as long as your bike in in roadworthy condition you’ll be fine.

Both routes largely avoid A roads.

To help with navigation the routes will be marked with on road arrows, but only at turning points.
There are no organised refreshments or broom wagons en-routeYou should be self-sufficient.

Riders are reminded that they ride at their own risk.
All participating riders are required to wear helmets.
Riders should obey the rules of the road and ride with due consideration for other road users. Any riders observed not doing so will be ejected from the event.
